Introduction to Notepad
What is Notepad?
Ø Notepad is a
simple text editor for Microsoft windows.
Or,
Ø Notepad is a software used for
writing letters, stories, essays, etc.
Ø It enables
computer users to create documents.
Ø It has been included
in all versions of Microsoft windows since windows 1.0 in 1985.
Ø The resulting
files are typically saved with the .txt extension.
Or,
Ø Notepad is a
generic text editor included with all versions of Microsoft Windows that lets
you create, open, and read plaintext files with a .txt file
extension. If the file contains special formatting or is not plaintext, it
cannot be read in Notepad or only shows garbage.

How to open Notepad
1. Using
mouse:
Process 1:
Step 1: Click on
the “Start Button” on Taskbar.
Step 2: Click on
“Windows Accessories” option.
Step 3: Click on the
“notepad”.
A blank page comes on the screen.
Process 2:
Step 1: Click on
the “Start Button” on Taskbar.
Step 2: Click on
“Windows Accessories” option.
Step 3: Click on the
“notepad” and drag on the desktop.
Step 4: Double
click on “Notepad” icon.
2. Using
keyboard:
Process 1
Step 1: Press
“Windows key +R”.
The Run command box will appear on the screen.
Step 2: Inside the
open drop-down box type “notepad”.
Step 3: Press
“Enter key” for OK.
Or,
Step 4: Click on “OK”.
Process 2:
Step 1: Press “Windows
key” to open Start menu.
Step 2: Using the arrow key, go to “Windows Accessories” option press “Enter key” to open all installed program.
Step 3: Using the arrow
key, go to “Notepad”.
Step 4: Press “Enter
key” to open notepad.
Process 3:
Step 1: Press “Windows key” to open Start menu.
Step 2: In the search
box type “notepad”.
Step 3: Press “Enter
key” to open notepad.
